Overview of South Connacht Citizens Information Service
South Connacht Citizens Information Service is a member of the Roscommon Dementia Alliance Group. Citizens Information Services (CISs) provide face-to-face service to the public. They are supported and funded by the Citizens Information Board. Through trained staff, the Citizens Information Services provide free, impartial and confidential information, advice and advocacy services to the public.

How to Use the Citizens Information Website
The website covers a broad range of subjects: social welfare, employment rights, buying a home, moving abroad, education and much more. Information on the Citizens Information website is available in both English and Irish.

Support for People with Disabilities & Long-Term Illness

There is extensive information on the Citizens Information website which details the main services and entitlements for people with disabilities. The focus is on adults with a long-term illness or disability likely to last at least one year.
There is information about social welfare payments, extra payments, transport and mobility, working while getting a disability payment, education and training, health services and community supports, tax credits and housing.
The National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities (NAS) provides independent, confidential and free advocacy for people with disabilities – in particular people who are isolated from their community and services, have communication differences, are inappropriately accommodated, live in residential services or attend day services and have limited supports. Support for Carers
The Citizen’s Information website gives information about payments for carers, additional social welfare payments available to carers, carer’s leave and tax credits.
